Description

Inspired by Bleedman’s most recent work [link] “The Grim Tales from Down Below” I had a sudden creative streak to make a plushie out of the cutest character Mini Mandy. My favorite page [link] (Talent) of the comic so far is where Mini Mandy is dressed as a ballerina playing Roman Dirge’s Lenore for the Lenore Musical. So I decided to make her in that costume.

The Hair
The hair is actually very soft! I forget the name/type of the yarn I made it with. It’s the same yarn/hair I used for my costume [link]
Lenore. The thing with this yarn is the store only carried one bright yellow for a color. I bought 6 balls of yarn and dyed 4 of them different shades for more realistic hair color/highlights. If you get quizzed on this, wet yarn takes 3 days to fully dry. =P

The Body
The body is made of white fleece. The upper part of the doll is lightly dusted with black/dark purple powder which… could have come out better, to match her skin tone. The eyes are made of white/black felt. She has a little mouth and nose, if you can see them.

The Outfit
The leotard is cotton. Not much else to say there.
The ballerina skirt is made of some net like fabric… probably polyester. I had to pinch it all around to make it puff up like a tutu? I never made a tutu!

The Barrettes
The skull barrettes were handmade with colored clay and stitched in the head. I’m very proud with how they came out.

The Shoes
The ballerina shoes are made of vinyl. I never made doll shoes before, so I just kind of made them work. I didn't want to have to sew the face of the shoe, but that seemed like the only way I could fit them right.

Entirely hand sewn took me three days to make.
